ALEXANDER ADAMS, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR AT GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

Today on the podcast, we have the pleasure of speaking with Alex Adams, an Assistant Professor at Georgia Institute of Technology. Alex's research focuses on designing medical devices and health technologies with equity as a guiding principle. His journey to this role is unique; starting as a musician, he transitioned into technology and health after discovering a passion for how electronics could influence sound and, ultimately, health outcomes. At Georgia Tech, he leads a diverse team dedicated to addressing gaps in the healthcare system, particularly for underserved populations.

In this conversation, Alex discusses the systemic issues contributing to health disparities, including geographic and socioeconomic factors that limit access to care. He emphasizes the importance of leveraging technology, such as telehealth and continuous monitoring through smartphones, to empower individuals in managing their health. By focusing on low-cost solutions that fit into people's daily lives, Alex aims to create more equitable healthcare access and improve health outcomes for all communities.
