Our design approach respects and highlights the connection between the native community and settlers in the land of Mountlake Terrace, Seattle by extending the green-scape onto the architecture and collaborating with local farming communities for farming and gardening on terraces. With the aim to create a healthy relationship between nature and the built environment, our proposal places a porous and open structure, enabling spacious common lands visible and accessible to its community.
Urban Rural v.3 will be the first project in the greater Seattle area to incorporate vertical farming practices that are collaborative with local farmers and food organizations, in a mixed residential, office, and retail use building.
