Hosted by Janet Roche & Carolyn Robbins, the Inclusive Designers podcast is a collaborative forum for designers to share creative ideas for different human conditions. Advocacy, student showcases, and of course design, are all included in these podcasts.
Design elements can be beautiful, person-centered, functional, and part of a comprehensive treatment plan. The more a designer understands the client and/or the community, the more effective and respectful the design will be.
In this episode, SOUR and Janet explore the importance of co-design in a ‘VUCA’ (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous) world, and why language matters when designing. Inclusive Designers Podcast gets SOUR’s Partner, Pinar Guvenc’s’ honest opinions from whether bad design is just an ego thing, to why seemingly reasonable approaches (like active listening) are the key to GREAT design. We also learn a bit about how Janet’s bathroom reno for her father is going and the challenges she is facing to re-fit a beautiful, but not necessarily functional, space.
